I came across the TechwearSkirts brand by accident — I laughed at first, then I finally went to Google it. And now I can't figure it out: is it really comfortable, or is it just visually hype? I love urban style and have been looking for something technological for a long time, but not overloaded with accessories and wild belts. Has anyone actually worn their skirts in the city, maybe on the subway, in the rain, on a bike? Share your experience, if you have one. I'm especially interested in how they behave on the move and in bad weather. Advertising is one thing, but life is quite another.
Listen, I'm one of those people who spent a long time looking, thinking, and spinning in my head "why does a skirt need to be techwear?", and then I just decided and bought myself the Y-Skirt V3 model from https://blackout-techwear.co.uk/col...ear-skirts - it has a water-repellent coating, folds and some internal pockets that actually work. It passed the "weather test" with flying colors. When it was snowing and raining in the morning, I was sure that everything would get wet - but the skirt held up. Yes, your legs are wet anyway, but the fabric doesn't stick and dries instantly. By the way, I'm wearing a top on my bike. It has a slightly cropped cut in the front and wind protection in the back. It's comfortable to pedal, nothing rides up or gets in the way. And the pockets! They really save the day - it fits a travel pass, keys, and even a power bank. In the metro I don’t feel “in a suit”, but rather I look like I’m in a costume. I don’t feel constrained in my movements, I don’t get sideways glances in the elevator — quite the opposite, a couple of times I was asked where I bought it. The main downside is probably the price. But honestly, I prefer one normal item to five useless ones. And also — you need to understand that this is not an “evening skirt”. This is specifically for the city: to live in, not just to look at. I even wear it to meetups — it looks fresh, not “office”, but not street in a bad sense either. I think I’ll get another one, I want to try something with thermoregulation. I hope they release one like that.
It's interesting to read - I didn't even think that techwear would reach skirts. I myself am more into jackets and backpacks from this theme, but the idea of functional clothes adapted for the city is close to me. I am especially pleased that they are finally starting to make things not only for the male audience. I think this approach will move the industry forward if manufacturers do not forget about practicality and the real needs of users.
