Hi,

I am surveying the webphone solution, and the document says it come with a native engine (not the NDAPI). I wonder if anyone can help answer the following quick questions as I am not able to find further details from the documentation:

  1. Is this file "WebPhoneService_Install.exe" the installer of native engine?
  2. By giving higher priority to this engine, does it mean that I don't need to go through WebRTC and no need to fight with the WebRTC configuration in an Asterisk-based box?

Best regards,
Victor

Hi

You are right in both points.
However you don't have to play with WebRTC even if you don't change any setting. WebRTC support is detected automatically by the webphone and the WebRTC engine will be used only if WebRTC capabilities have been detected. If your VoIP server don't have built-in support for WebRTC then by default the webphone might use WebRTC via the Mizutech's public webrtc gateways which are located in US and UK. Maybe this is too far from your location and the media delay might be too high. In this case I would recommend to just decrease the webrtc engine priority (In this case usually the NS engine will be used via the WebPhoneService_Install.exe, but for example the Java engine might be also used if Java is installed and enabled in the user browser, so the users doesn't have to download and run this installer exe).
